Forest School
Forest schools provide vital opportunities for pupils to engage with the natural world. Through hands-on exploration, play, and guided activities, pupils cultivate a deeper understanding and appreciation for their environment. This fosters ecological awareness, encouraging a sense of responsibility for our planet's well-being. As David Attenborough wisely observed, ‘No one will protect what they don't care about; and no one will care about what they have never experienced.’
The immersive setting of forest school allows for the development of crucial skills such as resilience, motivation and curiosity. Pupils develop themselves through healthy engagement with risk problem-solving and self-discovery within a safe and supportive framework. They gain confidence in their abilities, boost self-esteem, and develop social-emotional intelligence through collaborative experiences. These benefits positively impact the child's overall school experience and beyond.
All children take part in a whole afternoon of a Forest School session with our school based Forest School leader, within the school grounds. They learn about the woodland, wildlife living in and around the woodland, fires and the beauty of the outdoors whatever the weather!
